Husqvarna rider 155 for 1/3 acre lot
Husqvarna Rider 155 Shop Manual Pdf
Jim | I have a 1/3 acre lot. I am considering a Husky 155 rider to significantly decrease my time spent walking behind my 21' self propelled mower. I'm wondering how good the mulching is with the 41' bio clip deck - will it work good on grass that has some water on it ... such as early on a summer morning ? It takes me an hour to do the lawn with the 21' ... Can I expect to finish with the rider in 30 minutes or less ? Am I crazy for considering a rider for a smaller job such as this ? Anyone experienced with the machine ... pls respond ! |
Juan M | Thanks Steve for posting your comments on the Husqvarna Rider 155. Its interesting that you and Jim have expressed similar concerns about purchasing a riding mower for a 1/3rd acre lot because this is exactly my situation as well. All your concerns regarding the paucity of information on this mower are also what made me search the internet for info. Your negative experiences concerns me since I just purchased one two weeks ago and I just hope that none of the problems you encountered will show up in my unit and it is really fun to use. Please keep me posted on any further problems you experience and your resourceful solutions. Thanks! |
Steve | Well you're certainly welcome Juan. I'm glad that the info I posted was of some help. Just so you'll feel better about my negative experiences - my second Rider is doing great! To this point it is performing flawlessly. I don't think you're going to have any problems Juan, so feel good about your purchase. I think you bought the perfect mower for having a small lot. The cut is exceptional for a deck this size, and just how much fun are you allowed to have cutting grass! Just make sure you act like you still dread cutting the grass when your wife is around. I'm heading home to crank mine up now! Have fun Juan and let me know how your Husky is doing. Steve |

Kevin | i'll tell you one thing...the husky rider 155 is so much damn fun to drive. as well as the husky cz4817, makes the job so much more fun. |
Kerry | Well, I don't think you are crazy for wanting to do this. I am thinking about the same mower for a small lot as well. I want a machine that will last and work for a larger lot if/when I move. |
Brian | Does anyone own one of these riders. How does it do on slopes? How is the cut? |
Sandy | I'm intrested to find reviews about this mower as well. Particulary about mulching and slopes. |
Brian | I am told that there is no bag attachment available for these mowers, so mulching ability will be key. Unfortunately, I find little info on these mowers (other than a favorable review in Popular Mechanics, which I found on the web). |
Kyle | I was wondering if I should buy this mower. I have about a 3/4 acre lot and there is a hill nere my pool. What would happen if the angle is over 15 degrees. Would this cause server damage to the mower or is it jsut one of those things that dont really matter but are in the handbook. |
Steve | Kyle, I certainly can't answer your question with any authority, but my thoughts would be as to how much you are going to exceed the 15 degrees and for how long. We probably exceed 15 degrees if we load our mower onto a trailer. To get a picture of how much 15 degrees is, mark a spot at the base of your hill, go 59' up the hill, if there is more than a 15' change in elevation you'll be exceeding the 15 degrees. My Rider is still doing great, and it's really a pleasure to cut with. One of the things that I have really grown to appreciate is the 'flip up deck'. I'm one of those guys who likes to keep my mower cleaned up after each cutting, and man does this feature make it easy. Another thing that I like is the fact that the engine is in no danger of getting wet while I'm hosing down the underside of my cutting deck. Hey, good luck with your mower purchase. I hope this helps you a little with your decision. Steve |
Kyle | Thanks alot Steve. But I have one more question. How does this mower work without bagging? Does the bioclip really work good? And how often do you have to mow your grass, because I tried mulching and it did not work good if the grass got over 6 inches from the ground. Thanks So Much |
Steve | Kyle, No problem Kyle. Great question because there is no option with this mower to add a bagger. I was a bagging man for nearly twenty years and this was a difficult decision for me too. The bioclip works really well, and you do have the option to remove the bioclip plug and have a rear discharge mower. I haven't used mine this way yet so I can't tell you how it works in this configuration. I can tell you that the mower does a great job mulching. Now I do cut my grass frequently -- about every 4 to 5 days. We have had plenty of rain up until the last few weeks which is why I've had to cut as often. With avg. rain I could go once a week easily. I live in South Carolina and have a centipede lawn which is not a 'fast' growing or 'high' growing lawn, so you'll have to gauge your conditions accordingly. I don't like cutting more than an inch of growth if possible. I think 6 inches of growth would be asking a lot of any mulching mower not to show clippings. I will say this, it's a lot of fun to cut with this mower and the extra cutting beats all the lawn bags and trips to the local dump. You should be able to cut a 1/3 acre lot in less than 30 minutes easy. Cut twice as often and enjoy your Rider! Steve |
Steve Sharp | Just getting ready to purchase a 155. I get it Friday 3/26/04. I'll let you know how it is. |
Steve Sharp | Purchased my 155 rider this March 2004 for $3088. I’ve used it 3 times and I’m very impressed. So far I’ve cut mowing time ½ hour due to the excellent turning radius and front mounted deck, which is why I bought it in the first place. It can cut where the old Craftsmen tractor could not, under pine trees and around the fire hydrant. The ride is a little rougher than a typical belly mower. Hydrostat transmission is smooth front and backwards. Turning radius excellent. The bio-clip deck is excellent and as advertised. Overall I would rate the 155 rider as excellent and has exceeded my expectations. Awesome lawn mower, not your typical tractor. Price is a little high but you always pay a little more for superior quality and performance. |
Glenn | How are you guys doing with the rider 155, i am returning my Craftsman DGT6000 mostly because of the motor smoking and knocking on shut down, and the 54' deck doesnt float enough, i came across this unit and it looks good on paper, its seems to be made in sweden, would you say the quality of construction is better? and does the deck float well left to right? |
Steve | Glenn, I have to report that my Rider 155 is doing great. The mower is built in Sweden, but I haven't found that to be a problem. The quality and workmanship on this mower is exceptional. I particularly like the flip up deck as I like to hose off my deck after mowing the lawn. I think you'll find the full floating deck on the Rider 155 to give you a much more even cut than you were getting. That was one thing that concerned me when I was looking for my Rider. I don't like to see multiple levels of cut grass in my lawn when I'm through. The rider was designed as a commercial finish mower for well established landscaped lawns...it does very well when used for such purpose. Husqvarna doesn't recommend it for pastures or what a typical lawn tractor might be used for. Hope this helps you make your decision. By the way, our Lowes store isn't carrying the Rider anymore, where are you looking at purchasing yours? Steve |
Glenn | Hello Steve thanks for the post, unfortunately i am working out the where to buy from issue because i live in canada, the retail price here is 5199.00 (3713.00 US) which is high, ive seen it online for $2995.00 (kimco) but i would have go pick it up, I discussed this with a local dealer and got him down to 4600.00 + tax (3285.00US) so i may pay the extra $600.00 so i know the warranty is good. |
Steve | Glenn, Wow, significant price difference. Good luck with your shopping. Steve |
Sean | Interesting reading. I just bought one of these Rider 155 mowers on clearance from Lowes. I found the machine to be very effective on my 1/3 acre. Very impressed with cut around trees. It takes getting used to in tight corners where I had to back out a couple of times. It cut my work time at least by half! And I simply hate cutting grass. The fun factor on this thing is amazing. The closest thing I can think of are those bumper cars on the boardwalk. No, I'm not advocating slamming into anything but that is the closest way to decribe the maneuverability. The front fenders and hood were slightly faded on this unit from sitting out side at Lowes. I wrote an email to Husqvarna to see if the premature fading is covered by any warranty. I found the machine very sturdily built and quite heavy. The quality of cut is really good. It actually worked pretty well in heavy grass that was still wet from rain. The flip up deck is the best. If I could modify anyting on the mower it would be the Forward ground speed. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn this up. I have seen the commercial models with a ground speed of up to 10 mph as opposed to 5 mph on the 155. Although this may not be good for the quality of cut. Thanks to all who posted information here on a pretty obscure topic. Sean |
Steve | Sean, Glad to hear you're so happy with your Rider! Since purchasing mine I've moved to an acre sized lot. I can feel the 'need for speed' in a real way now. I think you are right though, I don't believe you'll get the mulching quality at higher speeds. Glad the info has been helpful for you. Steve |
THad | I got my Rider 155 during the middle of summer 2004. I got the Lowes in DE to order it! On top of that they had a low price but I got them to MATCH an internet price. They did the leg work to see how much it costs to have that company ship it to me, I got it for several more hundred less! I am now trying to find inexpensive replacement blades. I ordered them individually from the dealer and that cost me almost $100. I've heard Lowes can supply them, from this list. I will try Lowes this year and for some extra supplies. I love the mower, it makes cutting the lawn fun. My wife found out how much fun I have on it though! I've got some steep hills and the unit does well, but at speed will tip (duh). I would also like to know how to bump up the speed on this unit :) |
Thad | Found the item, 3 Blade Kit, part number 531034078 for around $37-40. |
Steve | Hi Ya'll, I'm the guy from SC remember? Just read some of the new posts here. I see there are some new Rider brothers out there! I'm happy to report that my Rider is still doing great (purchased July of 2003). I am now cutting an acre sized lot and still love cutting my grass. I felt the need for more speed as soon as I started cutting the larger lot. In fact I thought that my Rider had slowed down at the new house but it was just that I was going further before making any turns. I think the main reason the Rider's speed is as slow as it is, is for mulching purposes. I thought the samething, I gotta get this thing 'tweeked' a little. I have convinced myself not to worry about the speed for the sake of quality of cut and mulching...however, if you guys find out how to 'hyp-up' the ole Rider please post it for all of us! |
Sean | Since my last post last season I have really used the mower. I havent had to replace the blades yet. I flip the deck up and use an air die grinder with a blade sharpening stone and dress the edge up lightly now and then. I also found that spraying grass release agent (found in Sears) underneath the deck works great. I have towed a sweeper behind a few times with no problem. I even towed my utility trailer to move it around the yard. The 155 so far has been great. I usually hose the deck out each time or every other time. Lately the powder coating or paint has been flaking off but that is really my only complaint. I can still crash into the fence pretty good when I'm not watching the back end come around! Overall I would reccomend this unit to anyone who is looking to buy one. I'm not even sure if they still make them. If anyone finds a place to order blades easily cc me at my email so I can save it. Thanks! |
George | Anyone knoiw where I can order replacement blades for my 155. I have had trouble finding them. Thanks |
Thad | Any Husky dealer, but Lowes would be better. There is a 3 pk of blades for less than $40. You can buy each individual blade but that will run you $97. |
David Ngai | You can order then on line at: www.milacalawn.com I think they are in Minnisota(central time) If you have the original 3 blade catalogue number, you can call them at 320-983-3799 and order it that way or if it's in the web, they may only have the cat. # of individual single blade set and that will charge you an arm and a leg. Once you are in the web, click look up parts like a pro, and on-line ordering EMPARTweb Electronic Parts Catalogue will show up, look for Husq. and then Rider 155. Click the correct model year and a parts diagram will surface to help you. Good luck and let me know how you make out with this parts site. |
rob | i just bought a rider 155 yesterday from lowes 08/04/05 it was one someone had brought back and lowes had it on clearance for 1500. i cut my yard in half the time as the old craftsman rider i had before. only problem i dont have any manuel so im at a loss as to what types of belts filters hoses etc... to buy could osmeone please help me out. thanks |
David Ngai | Please see my old posted message concerning purchasing parts/ blades etc. The on-line electronic catalogue web had the whole diagram of your mower and parts number. There is also telephone number for you to call in case your specific parts is not updated on the web. Check into http://www.milacalawn.com You will find everything there. I was just as frustrated previously as you are. Good luck. Tell me how you work out with this info. Dave |
Steve | Congratulations Rob! I'm sure you're going to enjoy your Rider. You can view the manual from the Husqvarna Home Page. You'll need adobe acrobat to view it though. http://www.usa.husqvarna.com/ I'm sure you could get Husqvarna to send you one as well. Good luck! Steve |
Jim Fuller | Ordered 3 Blade Kit $56.95 for Rider 155 from Milaca Lawn as you suggested. It took a little time with return calls. Thank you for the contact. It will take a few days to receive shipment. I'll let you know how I make out. |
Steve | Thought I would post some info on my Rider 155 that may be of interest to all of you. My Rider is 2 years and 2 months old. We have a 2 year warranty on this mower from Husqvarna. I just lost the transmission cable that operates the forward reverse pedals. I think that 2 years is premature for failure of this cable and called Husqvarna USA about it. They are covering the cable but I have to pay for labor to replace it at my local dealer. It's something that I could do, but they won't cover the replacement cable unless the dealer handles it. Overall I can't complain about what they have done, but I am concerned that @ $53 per cable this could become an excessive maintanence expense. Should any of you guys run into this I was told by my dealer that it usually takes the customer to call Husky direct to get any consideration beyond the warranty. Don't blame the dealer for directing you that way. I was also told that this cable failure isn't uncommon @ 2 years or less. Time will tell I suppose. Any other cases out there? Steve |
john wood | Hi guys! I know this is three years later but I just found your posts. I have been using a Rider 16 H (precursor to the 155) for 4 years now and mowing 1.5 acres. I also love it and have had no problems at all with about 200 hours on it. I have gone through some blades because of hitting things and living in SC means that I cut sand which eats up my blades. I see where Jim lives in SC and buys his blades at Lowes. I have not been able to get blades at Lowes and would like to because my Husky dealer charges me $55.00 for a set. I have made some alterations on mine such as a hose vent on the transmission oil vent and fuel cap vent to help keep the mower cleaner and a larger seat for comfort. My mower was not adjusted properly when I received it and it took me a while to figure out that things were binding and had a potential to malfunction. After adjusting everything especially the deck, everything worked perfect after that with no stress on cables bushings etc. The only thing that I don’t like about mine is that it has a Briggs & Stratton engine and it is low on power but they wanted $1000,00 more for the larger engine and I just didn’t have the money. Unfortunately I use Mobil 1 oil and change it every 25 hours, so I don’t think my engine is going to break giving me the excuse to get a larger engine installed. Do you have the part numbers that Lowes uses for the blades? If so that would be great. Jim, if you read this, I live in the Myrtle Beach area. Your Husky friend John Wood |
Trevon | I've had this mower for three years and use it comercially. I would recommend this mower to anyone for home use. I've used it hard and found a few things that do break. Take into cosideration that this mower has over 2500 hours on it now. Steering cables: Two sets Throttle cable: Three Forward reverse Cable: Four Hydrostat: One This mower does go up very steep hills, but it does NOT come down them well. The cut is exellent, and it does handle some wet grass if the grass is maintained. You can use this mower on all but the very smallest yards, nad really save alot of time. I sure like mine. |
Ben | I have both a husk. walk behind mower and trimmer. They are both really great. This has left me with a riding mower that I rarely use. Could anyone tell me where I could get a manuel for an 80's model snapper riding mower? Thanks |
Kerry | I'm getting hyped to purchase a used Rider 16 that's in today's newspaper and really am excited to read all the positive posts (above). Still want confidence that it will work on my 1.5 acres. I used to have a 50' cut Yard Man lawn tractor, but it caught fire in a pile of dry leaves when we left it to answer a phone! Anyway, there are probably about 25 obstacles to mow around--and I figure this Rider 16's turn radius will compensate for out earlier igger cutting deck with the Yard Man. Any suggestions? What about the slow speed? Thanks and by the way the seller is asking $1805.00 (Says it has about 110 hours). Thanks.... |
Todd West | how can you tell how many hous a Rider 16 has? Is there a counter somewhere? |
Tim Randall | I have the 155 and after having to replace 'blade sets' three times I found that 5/16' roll pins cut in half used in replacement for the 'shear pins' that the factory uses is a better way to go. (The logic is good in saving the bearing) but really folks how many spindle bearings have you had to replace on any lawn tracter deck you have owned? (great gimmic for selling blades) Tim |
Hugh | I have one it is great, the only problems that i have had was a switch under the rear that needed adjusting last year, and this year the throtel cable broke, this came from me washing it and water got down the cable and rusted. I removed the cable and cleaned it up put it back togather rebent it and the mower is working fine. I find no mower that can match it for mulching the grass. it is fun to drive and i cut two acres with it. it cut my time by 45 minutes, I don't have to stop 0-turn is wonderful. |
Robert | I purchased my 155 Rider in March 2007. The first three to four cuts were perfect and smooth as silk. Cut number five has an unusual problem. The cut from the center cut is higher than the two outside cuts. This seems strange to me. I purchased a spare set of blades and am going to put some new sharpies on the mower. Does anybody have any ideas as to why this is happening ? |
David Ngai | Milaca's been selling the triple blade set with shear pins and washer for some time but had recently raised the price close to 200% within 4 or so years. Anybody know where to order them for better price? Used to be $42 and now getting close to double. |
DavidLowery | I'm going to look up the milica lawn company, but I'll give my experiences with this mower. I bought mine in the spring of 2002, so now, May 2007, I'm in my 5th year of use. I like the mower, but it has some problems to deal with. 1-The blades and shear pins are hard to find locally, and only at Husquvarna dealers. Lowe's does not carry them. And, they are expensive, in the $80 range for 3 blades in a set. 2-It doesn't seem like the Husqvarna dealers (2 that I worked with and about 5 that I've called) know anything about this mower. They say it's hard to get parts for, etc. I'm worried that Husqvarna won't keep up with this mower since they've made changes to it, and I'm not even sure they still make the mower. I'm worried that my $3000 investment may become obsolete and hard to work on. |
Cliff Smith | I also am having problems finding the blades and my lawn is far too long to wait for shipping on the Milaca. I found the sheer pin set on Amazon though, just without the blades. I'm going to Lowes today to see if I can find some blades that look about the same size and I'll order the sheer pins off amazon if I can. I'll let you know if I find a decent match or not. |
Bob | I have had my Rider 155 for about four months now, and I absolutely love it. The sucker just cuts and cuts. I have a THICK Bermuda lawn and it can handle it as well as my Honda Commercial lawn mower, and that is saying a LOT. No Maintenance issues for me, the ease of changing the blades and cleaning the deck is very nice. The 155 Rider is going to be arround for a long time, do not be concerned about parts etc. Some dealers are a little leery about the Rider because it is different from a Lawn Tractor. They are used to working on LTs so they are easy for them to deal with. If you deal with a Big dealer you should get good support. With a small town dealer, you might have problems. But there are not many Ferrari's sold and it is not as easy to get it worked on as your Chevrolet. But wouldn' you rather have a Ferrari as a Chevrolet ? |
Ben | Hey all, I have a Pro 15 which is very similar. I purchased mine used from E-Bay to drove to pick it up. It has the 38' side discharge deck with the Kawasaki motor. From talking to people, of all the engines available, this is the ideal one to have, so keep that in mind if your looking for one on the used market. Kawasaki has a reputation about like Honda- run forever. Since I have had the mower I've had to do a little work to get it in tip-top shape, but now it cuts like a dream. Plus with all the trees in my yard, I couldn't ask for a better mower. As well, it doesn't tear up the grass as it turns like a zero-turn does. The only problem I have run into is the tendency it has to scalp the grass when mowing diagonally over a sharper decline (say into a ditch). Even side discharging, the 3 blades do a great job of keeping the clippings small, and when I have to pick them up, I have a pull-behind lawn vacuum. I would highly recommend this mower for smaller yards. |
Winston | I have a CZ 4817 Zero turn. I bought it about two yrs ago and have already had to replace the deck belt twice. The belt keeps coming off, three or four times during a single use, the tension is ok . I also get alot of vibration in the deck. Is anyone having the same problem. |

Hugh | I have had mine for about four years and love it, I get my parts through the lawn and garden shop in town. my blades from American rental and power equipment inc. I buy shear pins by the dozen, ant beds here are rough and so is my son. as for the slopes i have no problem with them at all. I cut about 1.5 acres and the ditch in the front is a good slope. I had a problem with a bolt coming loose on a safety switch under the rear end of the machine and it took a while to find it. The thing was well hid. |
Barnes | I have a Husqvarna rider 155 and the poblem is the blades will not turn off when the deck is lifted up. I see no reason for the problem and cannot get the belt to stop turning even when the spring let-off for the tension pulley is removed. If anyone has had this problem please let me know how to fix it. |
Geo | I have the 155. I have to change the blade belts about once a year. The alternator has gone bad. The shear pins for the blades are a constant problem. Everytime you hit a stick you have to replace the three pins. I do not recommend this mower. |
geo | Barnes, It sounds like your belt is to tight. |
Charlie O | I have a problem with my Rider 155, it won't start. Put in a new battery, and it cranked, ran until I shut it off, then went to restart and nothing happens. In past had to have a new ignition switch. Anyone had this problem, or any problem with safety interlock? |
Ed D | Charlie O, Rider 155 has about three contact points which will prevent starting. One in particular is under the transmission cover. Take the cover off, press the forward or reverse pedal and look for the contact switch. You may have to lightly sand between the points. Same happened to me and my dealer showed me where to look. I've had mine 5 yrs so far and would certainly buy another |
ALPO | I am interested in this mower but can not find one. Are they still readibly available and what can I expect to pay if they are????? (5/23/08) |
Ed D | ALPO, They are available from select dealers. In Central Eastern PA, ARK Rentals, Orwigsburg, PA has two Rider 155 available: The standard rear drive is $3,999.00 and the all wheel drive is $4,999.00. Good luck! |
SS Dan | I've been running Husky riders for about 7 years residentially and commercially. You won't find a better cut and the manuvaribility is amazing. I mow one cemetery and these units cut the time in half. Recently purchased a used Rider 16 W/bio clip mulching deck. The deck works great for smooth lawns and frequent mowing. It's not for me. Anyone interested in a bio clip deck this ones for sale or trade for a side discharge. I've looked at the 155 with great interest. I'm not sure the all wheel drive is worth the extra grand. I have my rear wheel drives on some pretty good hills although it does have a tendency to slip on wet grass. |
Chris Caldwell | Anyone here have access to parts for the 41' front mount? With Lowes no longer selling parts for them I am having an issue finding the blades and the shear pin kit. Do any of you have access to tehse parts in your local areas and if so where? |
B CHIP | IF ANY ONE WANT TO BUY MOWER LET KNOW...HAVE ONE IN ANN ARBOR MICHIGAN FOR SALE....JUST EMAIL ME!! |
ALAN | Does anyone have the length of the Deck Belt OEM part # 531005017? Does anyone use none genuine deck belts? I am having trouble with the belt turning over and coming off when it hits some high grass. any tips would be welcome. The Rider 155 is the best mower I have used on my 2 acres of lawn. Only problem is the Deck drive belt and it does not like going down hill - a little unsafe! |
Geoff | Have had my rider 155 since 2003 and cut about 1/2 acre. I also have the need for speed so I'm thinking of switching out the belts because of stretching. When the grass is a little tall the cuttings bunch up along the right side of the deck into little piles and I have to mow over those a second time. Great mower would like to have a AWD if available. |
Mel Finke | Have had my 155 for 3 years (?) with no problems. Was mowing today and I heard a 'pop' and it will not go forward - front pedal loose as a goose. Pull up on the front pedal and it goes into recerse. Recerse works fine - got it to the garage going backword. Problem? MEL |
Travis | Found a website called Partstree.com that has all of the Rider 155 parts that I have ever needed, and they are cheaper than my local dealer. I've had mine since 2003 and really enjoy mowing with it, can mow my entire lot in 45 minutes and with the front mounted deck my string trimmer sees very little use! |
Bill Beamish | to Mel Finke: The pop you heard was the throttle cable breaking. the part # is 506 82 72 02. partstree doesnt have it available |
jesse | i need to know if the rider 155 works well in tall grass. also i am landscaping plz lt me know |
Jim | Very old post... but I'd like to add my 2 cents. I've had my Rider 155 for 8 years now as of Oct 2010. Had a brake cable break early on; took 2 weeks to get it fixed under warranty. Had to replace a belt idler recently for $60; parts in stock at partstree.com. I started out mowing 3/4 acre. Now up to 3 acres. Can't beat it if you have a lot of trees, which I do have. It'll out-mow a ZTR hands down. Only sips gas with the Tecumseh motor. Blades are expensive @ $65/set. I keep 4 sets on hand and rotate them as they need sharpening; about twice per 9 month season. I do a full maintenance on mine once per year. Use staight 30 wt oil, grease the single bearing, clean & oil the deck rollers, air filter and gas filter change. Mine's a 41 1/2' deck. Wish they had a 60' with more power, but this one is one fine mower as it is. |
mike | Having a problem with the height of the cutting deck. Even when the lever is at the highest setting (notch #9), it is still cutting the grass too short, maybe 2 inches. This has not always been the case. Any help would be appreciated. |
Dick Cady | I have a Husqvarna 155 AWD and in the owners manual it shows only one grease nipple on the side of the belt adjuster under the engine. Mine does not have this nipple. Does anyone know where the grease nipples are and if there is more than one? |
EdD | Mike, The cutting deck can also be adjusted by tightening or loosening a lock nut underneath the body close to the lever. It looks like a L shape bolt. Dick Cady, The nipple is there, it's just very hard to see. |
Doug | Thad, where did you find this 3 blade kit? Thanx, DT email: |
dave | 6/24/11. I had my first mishap on my rider 155. I have had the forward reverse cable snap on me today. Half done. REally this has been the best mower I've ever owned. So many adjustments, that really if you want to, you can make your lawn look like it was cut with scissors! I've owned it since 2003, and bought it off lowes as a return for 1500. I cannot believe that I rode a crappy craftsman for the time prior. I've got about 1.25 acres here, and I can do it in 50 mins. I usually cut my neighbors yard too, *case of beer*. and it takes me 15-20 mins to do a 1/3 acre of his, excluding house. Only down side of this mower without the awd, is mowing on hills sideways. Not much weight since it has no real frame. If they would have sold the awd at the time I bought this, Id' prbably still bought this, as I only need it if there is a ton of wet grass. BTW. I've cut grass that is 6-7 inches high and it still looks great when the blades are sharp. I just tip up my deck, clean it out, and then run a simple air grinder over the blades to keep them super sharp 2x a season. Nothing more than that. I actually get 2.5 runs on the grass with a full tank too. THis is hands down the best mower for cutting grass there is. I know zero turns are a little easier to use, but not on hills that I have. 20% grade and I still kick it! |
DAve | probably sheered a pin on the center one. If you tilt the deck out and see it's not in alignment with the other two blades or you hear some clicking, then it's the sheer pin broke. that is the only thing that can cause that, or a bent blade. either way, I'd invest in new blades and toss the old ones. |
John Seefried | I'm selling my Rider 155 it has been a great mulcher, but I've moved to a new location, Towson, Maryland, and can't focus on the maintenance. If you know anyone that would appreciate this offer... please send them my way.Husqvarna 42” Riding Lawn Mower Model: Rider 155 Cutting Width: 42' Kohler Command: 15.5 Engine The sealed bearings in the spindles need to be replaced and a new battery is needed. I have removed one of the spindles to show the needed bearings. If you are up to the task of doing or having some maintenance done… you may own a high quality mulching mower for a few hundred dollars. |
David Ngai | Anybody know of places selling triple blade kit now in 2013 for still about $60? I recently found that they all no longer carried the old parts number 531031078 or 531034078 and therefore no longer available for those price. New pricing means 3 individual package coming close to 90-100 bucks. Thanks Dave |
